Future of Japanese Economy Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2250 words

Future of Japanese Economy - Essay Example Though, very soon they recovered it with 10% average of economic growth in 1960s, 5% during 1970s and closer to 4% in 1980s, but after that, growth slowed down remarkably3. Strong working mentality, good government-industry relationship and implementation of advanced technology were the most favorable reasons responsible for making Japan stand on to the platform of one of the largest economy in the world from post WWII till 80s. Resultant of overinvestment in late 80s and crisis in world oil supply brought another challenge to their economy4. It became necessary for Japan to switch from mobilized productionism to more substantial welfare economy. However, the oscillation between successful drive of the export in late 80s and bang in economy after 80s hazed that requirement and mobilized economic system disappeared very soon5. After the fading away of stock inflation and land prices, an excess of production capacity remained. This factor lowered the profitability of the production and on the other hand, bad loan weakened the financial activity. Government's effort in recovering that downfall was not up to that level and it's clear from the statistics of economy for the duration of 2000-20016. Hence, it is inferred that Japan is in a state of distorted industrial policy and in urgent need of a revolution. The main aim of this paper is to address the main obstacles that Japan is facing and then to state the possible solutions to overcome them. Obstacles in Japanese Economy Japan is facing resistances now-a-days that it had never encountered before. Growth rate which used to be in two digit figure just after war, now expectation growth is below 1% which is too unsure. Country that had incredible unemployment rate till 1980s has now rose to 4.8%. Present crisis of its economy consists of short or middle-term problems like; financial difficulty, trade cycle and public finance. Other than that long term problems are there which are related to going into matured stage of progress. One of the important aspects of Japanese economy is its iron triangle which dominated the people by managing their particular interests. However, due to the changing of technologies and human preferences that system is losing its supremacy. After 1990s when the economy condition is at matured stage, safety and stability becomes the main points of concern; but 'iron triangle'7 sometimes might block the transformation in the required direction. The creation of societal life is supposed to be the center of long term task of Japanese economic society. The population of Japan is expected to reach its peak in 2007 and then turn to decrease which may lead to the composition of population over sixty-five to surpass 20% in the target year of the total population and after that reach the high plateau over 27%-30% after 20 years. This effects the shifting in arrangement of consumption in industries. But, the question here comes whether pure market economy will be able to adapt this shift in consumption as market is driven by profit seeking

Guarding Our Ecosystems - Marshlands and Wetlands Essay Example for Free

Guarding Our Ecosystems Marshlands and Wetlands Essay In the last decade, the conservation of our ecosystem has gained high importance. The last few years have seen a considerable jump on awareness of the conservation of marshlands. Marshlands or wetlands are areas which are transitional between terrestrial and aquatic systems. Here the water is usually at the surface. The land is covered by stagnant water that does not exceed 6 meters. They are considered important as they are home to various species of flora and fauna. Wetlands covers 6 %of the earth`s land surface. This includes marshes, mangroves fens, swamps, lagoons etc. They store water for a long period of time and help keep floods in check. They also prevent coastal erosion. Despite the fact that these marshlands are important the reduction in the levels of these areas are very apparent .The government, in a census, has identified 648,507 hectares of wetlands in India and it has estimated that freshwater wetlands constitute up to roughly 20% of the biodiversity in India. Studies have proved alarming levels of marshland destruction in India. This level has been estimated by experts at up to 2-3% reduction per year. Pallikaranai Marsh Pallikaranai is locally known as Kazhiveli (a generic Tamil name for marshes and swamps). It is situated in Chennai and is one such important marshland which has been in the preview of the government and NGOs alike. This marshland is a 50 km wetland located in the South of Chennai. Pallikaranai Marsh has the most diverse natural habitats of the country with over 330 species of plants and animals. According to a census taken by an NGO group Namma Pallikaranai, the heterogeneous ecosystem of the marshland supports about 337 species of flora and fauna. Of the faunal groups, birds, fishes and reptiles are the most prominent. Further it has been identified that Pallikaranai marsh is home to 115 species of birds, 10 species of mammals, 21 species of reptiles, 10 species of amphibians, 46 species of fishes, 9 species of molluscans, 5 species of crustaceans and 7 species of butterflies. About 114 species of plants are found in the wetland including 29 species of grass. The problem Pallikaranai is facing the problem of reduction of the marshland. The area of  the Pallikaranai marshland has been reduced to a mere 600 hectares from the original 6,000 hectares. The government, however, has protected only 317 hectares Construction of buildings in the surrounding areas of the marsh has been one of the factors to this reduction of the levels of the marshlands. The marsh is also contaminated with millions of liters of untreated sewage. The main problem, however, is the dumping and burning of garbage. Over 250 acres of the marsh is covered by the citys garbage as this is one of the major dumping grounds. The garbage is dumped in the marsh and later burned. According to a survey conducted by the pollution control board, the levels of respirable suspended particulate matter (RSPM) is double than the permissible level of 100 micrograms per cubic meter. This could cause harmful effects to the residents near the marsh area. Burning the garbage also kills the different plants and animals in the marsh. There have been a significant number of birds and animals which were found dead due to the spreading of fires. â€Å"We have complained several times. But garbage is still being burnt in the marshes. The pollution when the garbage is being burnt is affecting us a lot†, says Uma .P, a resident of the area. Government steps A project on ‘Inland Wetlands of India’ commissioned by the Ministry of Environment and Forests, Government of India had prioritized Pallikaranai Marsh as one of the most significant wetlands of the country. The government has taken various steps to preserve this marsh. The High Court of Madras has passed laws regarding the preservation of Pallikaranai marshland, which in its rulings have stated provisions to conserve the marsh The High Court has also stated that an alternative place must be decided by the corporation for a place to dump the corporation waste. Further, the High Court has prohibited burning of waste in the marshlands. The main proposal of the Tamil Nadu government notification, 320.17 hectares (790.82 acres) of Pallikaranai marshland as reserved forests and to evict occupants who are not authorized to be there from the reserved area has been implemented. Some parts of the marsh have come under the forest department and have been recognized as a reserve by the government. This has come after a delay in providing the land since 2011. They have provided the 170 hectors to complete the restoration of the marsh. Restoration of these marshes has  started. This move of the government has been welcomed by the residents of the area. â€Å"I hope no more garbage will be dumped and burned in the marsh as this has caused major pollution problems in this area. The government must ensure that such problems don’t occur in the future† Says Rashmi.G , a resident of Pallikarnai Experts have stated the need to establish a single coordination agency with all stakeholders like environmental activists, government officials and researchers to establish the restoration of this project. The government, with the agenda of conserving the marsh has sanctioned a programme to take up a restoration project which is estimated to cost Rs.15.75 crore along with this a boost of R.s 5 crore has been provided to increase and restore the Pallikarnai marsh. The conservation plan according to an official report by the environment ministry states that the restoration plan includes the removal of weeds, formation of bunds, dredging water courses and forming a nature trail alongside the boundary of the marshland. This will take around 5 years for the government to complete its restoration plans for the Pallikaranai marsh.

Resistance of a wire Essay Example for Free

Resistance of a wire Essay Fair Testing Definition Fairness implies that the outcome of the activity truly depends on what is being investigated, and is not being distorted by other external factors. Therefore a fair test is one where all the variables are kept constant or the same, except the variable that is being investigated. A variable is anything that can change and which may influence the outcome of the investigation. List of variables   Length of a wire.    Temperature of a wire. Resistivity of a wire.   Thickness of a wire. Person that measures the length.   Person observing the metre readings. Number of variables.   Position of the variable resistor needs to stay constant.   Number of times you do the experiment to get the average.   Apparatus needs to stay the same, so you need to do it on the same day. Statement of fairness To make it a fair test, I am going to keep all the variables the same, except the length which I am going to change. I am going to take the measurements of the voltage and the ammeter readings. Range of Measurements to be taken (for the variable being tested) I will take the ammeter and voltmeter readings of different lengths. The different lengths will be in 10cm increments, from 0cm to 100cm. Experimental Procedure Apparatus: 1. 2 Batteries 2. Voltmeter 3. Ammeter 4. Metre ruler 5. Variable resistor 6. Rheostat 7. 1m wires mounted on a metre ruler 8. Crocodile clips 9. Connecting Wires Diagram: Method: When I set up the apparatus as the diagram above, I will put the slider in the middle of the variable resistor and I wont change its position throughout the experiment. I will get a metre ruler, which has wires mounted on it. I will get the crocodile clips and put one of the clips on 0cm and the other clip on 10cm. I will read the voltmeter reading as well as the ammeter reading. I will then take the other crocodile clip from 10cm and put the clip on 20cm. I again will read the voltmeter and ammeter readings. I will do the same for 30cm, 40cm. 100cm. I will repeat the experiment 3 times so the experiment will be a fair test. Safety Precautions I have thought about the safety precautions and I dont think there are any precautions to take. The wire could get hot if the voltage was too high, but in this particular experiment the voltage is supposed to be low. Results. Results Table Experiment 1 Experiment 2 Length of a conductor (cm) Voltage (V) Current (I) Resistance (? ) Voltage (V) Current (I) Resistance (? ) Average Resistance (? ) Results (trends or patterns of observations) From my table you can see that as the length of the conductor increases the resistance and voltage also increase but, the current decreases. Each time the length of the conductor doubles the resistance more or less doubles as well. The average is only really useful when the voltage and current are about the same. If the numbers are not around the same figure the average wouldnt really mean anything. It wouldnt be a true reflection on the other results. Conclusion In the planning part of this investigation I predicted that as the length of the conductor increases the resistance will also increase because the electrons will have more cations, the electrons will find it harder to go from one side to the other side. From my results table you can see that as the length increases the resistance will also increase. When the length goes from 40cm to 80cm, the resistance goes from 3. 96to 7. 95 The reason it happens is that in my theory I stated that the length of a conductor is similar to the length of a hallway. A shorter hallway would allow people to move through at a higher rate than a longer one. Resistance in wire depends on how thick and how long it is, and what it is made of. The thickness of the wire is called its gauge. The smaller the gauge, the longer the wire. Calculation of the percentage errors from the graph Experiment 1 Experiment 2 Length (cm) Voltage (V) Current (A) Resistance (? ) Voltage (V) Current (A) Resistance (? ) Average Resistance (? ) Line of Best Fit Difference % error Evaluation How accurate was the investigation? I think the investigation was quite accurate because I repeated the experiment 3 times and the results in the results table were all close to each other. The replicates are close to together, which means I could calculate a representative average. The apparatus was accurate because I had the right amount of everything I needed. However, if the connecting wires were a bit thinner than it would have been an even more accurate investigation. Overall I think the accuracy of the apparatus was good enough for this particular experiment because it is standard and the majority of the schools in England also use this apparatus. I dont think that the method could have lead to any inaccuracies, because everything was more or less accurate. The line of best fit looks perfect and there arent any anomalous results. Was this a suitable procedure? It was a suitable investigation because I got what I expected and it proved my prediction. Also, a lot of people done this investigation like this because it is good. My graph is also good, so I know the suitability of the investigation is positive. Was the evidence sufficient to support a firm conclusion? Yes, because if you look at my graph, it was done to a good degree of accuracy. As the length doubled, the resistance also doubled, so it was reliable. Also the % of error was less than 5. 00% all the time. The replicates are close to the average. I got what I wanted because I did some research so I knew what to expect. How could the investigation be improved? Improvements I would do the experiment more time to get a better average. I would do the investigation 3 times which would mean I could do it on 3 separate graphs with the same apparatus. I would also use a longer wire from 1m to 2m. Further work After doing this investigation, I could investigate another variable such as resistivity (type of wire). I would do the experiment by doing the following; 1. I would set up the apparatus. 2. I would cut 30cm of copper, tungsten, constantan, nichrome and steel wire. 3. I would measure the voltmeter and ammeter readings. 4. I would calculate the resistance. 5. I would repeat the experiment 3 times to get an average voltage and an average current. 1 Show preview only The above preview is unformatted text This student written piece of work is one of many that can be found in our GCSE Electricity and Magnetism section.

Applications Of Mechatronics In Aviation Engineering Essay

Applications Of Mechatronics In Aviation Engineering Essay The term Aviation covers all the activities involved building of flying aircraft especially air planes. The two major divisions are manufacturing of air craft and its components, and second airlines operation. This manufacturing includes of space craft, missiles and related electrical and electronic components. This aviation industry subdivided into Air craft manufacturing General aviation activities Airline operation Airport operation Aviation support industries Applications of Mechatronics in Aviation This essay will discuss about some of the components used in aviation industry which relates to applications of mechatronics. Aileron Flaps and Actuator drive unit Pilot Static system Fly by wire control system Yaw damper Primary flight control system Internal navigation system Under carriage Measurement of motor rpm Measurement of air flow velocity Altitude measurement sensor Air speed Aileron This ailerons were mounted by the hinges in a reaction test frames and variety of actuator configurations with adjustable links. Electro dynamic shaker attached with a bonded pad to the outboard closeout rib are used to apply various frequencies and amplitude to the aileron. An accelerometer used to monitor the frequency responses. If the frequencies were comparable the flutter free performance of the composite aileron was predicted. A pair of actuators fixed by the pads to the rear of the ailerons. This is used to load and determine the chordwise bending and torsional rigidity. The movement are measured at nine points on the ailerons were measured by two ways. The two ways are linear transducers and optical. Flaps This flaps constructed with parametric computer model and actuator system. The overall model could moved the full range of flap rotation and deflections and it could represent the thermal expansion in both vertical directions and longitudinal. The drive unit rotates in its mounting axis to maintain tangency of the pinion gear and sector gear regardless of any shifts in the location of the flap hinge axis. The existing computer design model is used to determine the real movement at the bearing with the system in a thermally deflected and conform the required movement. This computer model is used to find the sources of interference and eliminates the source. This system is reliable as well as critical for real time determination of components locations in the vehicle. It is very difficult for proper alignment of the parts with out this computer model and drive unit. Actuator drive unit This actuator drive unit is designed to create maximum torque and speed if any two electrical or controller failures. Due to weight concern mechanical redundancy is not provided also it will increase effect of complexity and overall reliability. To resolve this issue the failsafe design were included into the individual components to improve the reliability concerns. When the motor channel fails the rest of the channel would drag along the failed motor. Pilot Static System This pilot static system is mostly used in aircrafts to determine the aircrafts airspeed, Mach number, altitude and altitude trend. This system consists of pilot tube, a static port and pilot static instruments. This unit also measures the external forces acting on the aircraft like temperature, pressure, density and viscosity of the fluid while in operation. Rest of the instruments connected to monitoring computers and data recorders, altitude encoders, cabin pressure controllers and various speed switches. Most of the commercial aircraft disasters have been traced to a failure of the pilot. Fly by Wire control Systems This fly by wire control systems is most reliable than manual control of an aircraft. The changes in flight control components are converted to control signal and transmitted to flight control computers by the wires to determine how to move the actuators at each control surface. This flight control computers gives feedback to stabilize the aircraft performance even without pilot knowledge. Yaw damper In many air craft usually in jets and turboprobs to decrease the damper due to Dutch roll mode this Yaw damper is used. It includes Yaw rate sensors and processor. This overall unit gives signal to an actuator which is connected to the rudder. The purpose of this yaw damper is to give solution for the better ride to passengers. This component is required in aircraft to ensure the stability stays with in the certified values. Primary flight control system This mechanically controlled system design is to provide responds to primary flight control system. For flight envelope protection this electronically system is used. This control system is split into two levels, the four actuator controls and three primary flight computers. This gives warnings to pilot. In internal navigation system includes motion sensors (accelerometers) and rotation sensors (gyroscopes). This setup is continuously calculating the reckoning position, orientation, and velocity of an aircraft and space craft. Undercarriage When take off and landing it allows the aircraft to move as a taxi. This structure compile with wheels, floats and landing gear system. The landing gear is hydraulically rotated forward and up during the ground operations until it engages an uplock hook. This landing gear doors having high temperature reusable surface insulation thermal protection systems tiles joined together with their outer surface. Characterization setup of motors, batteries and propeller In Mini and Micro air vehicles the characterization setup module has been using. This set up having motors, batteries and propellers, computer, multifunction I/O card, tachometer, current sensor, air velocity transducer, thermocouple with conditioner and necessary hardware interface. The DC voltage applied to the motor is controlled by LabVIEW based software. This software continuously collects the six channels data, calculates the engineering inputs, as well as keep updating the screen readout and displays the data also save the data into ASCII spreadsheet file. The collected and displayed data includes motor current, voltage, temperature, RPM, air velocity, thrust, calculated instantaneous power and calculated torque. Measurement of motor RPM It is important to measure most efficiently motor, propeller and gear box combination RPM. Motorà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s rpm based on varying the combinations of the propulsion systemà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s components. Another important operation is to detect when motor failure happen. For this detection this system applies two methods to design Tachometer. In first method a wiring harness to connect to the existing real time system, magnets and Hall effect sensor on the gears or motor fan. When the fan start to rotates, the Hall effect sensor detects the field magnetism which is developed due to rotation and sends a signal to the board that is having capability to count the pulses. In second method an optics module is focused to illuminate the spinner from the side. When light reflects off a white stripe on the spinner is detected by the photo sensor for each revolution. Measurement of air flow velocity By using the thermal anemometry the air velocity transducer measures velocities. This method of measurements offers flexibility with wide ranges for accurate measurements. The simple operation of this arrangement is an electric current passed through in a fine filament which is open to the elements to cross flow. When the air flow varies the transferring heat also varies and it causes a variation in the heat balance of the filament. The fine filament material having a property to hold the temperature co-efficient resistance. This change is monitored via electronic methods and communicate the signal to corresponding flow velocity or flow temperature. This method also used for instantaneous velocities and temperature measurement. Aircraft altitude measurement sensor For altitude measurement Piezoresistive silicon sensors are mostly used. Due to high accuracy requirement the monolithic silicon pressure sensors are used and it delivers high level analog output signal is proportional to the applied pressure. In case of change in temperature the silicon sensors are compensated due to these are temperature dependent. This altimeter is used as an absolute sensor. The outcome of the sensor is directed to an operational amplifier. The gain and offset of the amplifier circuit is modifying by two trimmers, so that it can be calibrated. Air Speed This differential airspeed pressure sensor output is connected to an operational amplifier. To calibrate the signal gain one of the trimmer is used. The ports of silicon based sensors are static and variable. To determine the outside air pressure Mensor pressure controller was used to apply a standalone pressure to the static port. When increase in the pressure difference between two ports it generates the output voltage. The output voltage are lowest when the pressure is equal also it offset the voltage.

â€Å"Two minutes† says Teal Krech as he replies to a question posed to him bye an interested intern from within his cubicle at the â€Å"Village Voice† headquarters. The question he was answering was â€Å"How long can a human being survive unshielded radiation exposure from a broken fuel rod?† Teal achieved this research from the DoE (Department of Energy) who to this point â€Å"has no set plan for the transportation of the spent nuclear fuel rods through our major cities and states on their way to ultimate storage in the bowels of Yucca Mountain†(Krech 2002). Yucca Mountain, located approximately 100 miles Northwest of Las Vegas, Nevada, is the site that President George Bush has endorsed for serious consideration as the location in which to store the nations nuclear waste. This nuclear waste, currently stored at 131 reactor sites around the nation, originates from nuclear fuel rods used for nuclear power generation, and national defense and weapons pr ograms.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Since 1978 the Department of Energy has been studying Yucca Mountain. They have been trying to determine whether it would be suitable for the long-term geologic repository for spent nuclear fuel and high level radioactive wastes. In that time period and billions of American dollars spent of scientific research on everything from the potential seepage into groundwater to microbial growth within the Alcoves already trenched into the mountain’s core. Yucca Mountain has been determined the safest place in North America for such a site. The Department of transportation has sank nearly three decades of research and money into the site and have just this year began developing a concise transportation plan for the movement of this nuclear waste throughout our country to the Yucca Mountain site, says Energy Department spokesman Joe Davis. â€Å"With the licensing procedures expected to take 3 years† (Abraham 2002) and that license only granted through the construction period of the site, at which point and time the Department of Energy will have to reapply for licensing before they can begin to receive wastes, the project is at least 8 years away from completion. I personally think that eight years allows plenty of time for further development of transportation methods and protocols that will guarantee the safe movement and containment of this waste through our major cities. The Department of Energy will probably come up with special containers that will be specifically designed to withstand even the most violent of turnovers and impacts, just like they have done for the transportation of gaseous cyanide and chlorine which are transported bye truck and rail every day.

Railroads in Hamlet Essay -- American History Hamlet North Carolina Pa

Railroads in Hamlet Hamlet. By definition, a hamlet is a small, desolate town, with less people than a village. In 1931, the town of Hamlet, North Carolina did not fit this description. It in fact was a bustling town full of varied industry and agricultural projects, as depicted in a newspaper article from the Raleigh News and Observer in 1931. In this article, Hamlet is described as being anything but a small, desolate town, showing its importance mainly being in the railroad industry. Though the descriptions in the article, it is easy to see what an important place Hamlet was in 1931 for the Railroad industry. In the 1920’s, the country was experiencing â€Å"the most explosive decade of the century,† or, as it has been called, â€Å"The Roaring Twenties† (Wang). Everything great was happening for the country in everything from music to politics and fashion to the stock market. That was until one ‘Black Thursday’ on October 24, 1929 when the stock market crashed (Wang). This started what is now commonly known as The Great Depression. Jobs were lost, people starting starving, suicide was attempted, and the country just started coming to a halt with people being too worn out and depressed to do much of anything. The country stayed this way for almost ten years. It would not be until many years later that Franklin Roosevelt would put in place the New Deal and turn the country back around (Wang). But, through all the stresses and hard times the country was facing, Hamlet seemed to prosper, growing in population size and industrial importance (Hamle t). In 1900, 4000 miles of railroads crossed over North Carolina in many directions (Trelease 32). The expansion of the railroad system did so much for Nort... ...ked like back then. Also, a great history of Hamlet is given. This article clears up some misconception of the doom and glom lifestyles that are always associated with the Great Depression. Lastly, this article teaches the lesson of never giving up even when the odds are against you. If you close your eyes and listen, you can almost see the train coming and hear the whistles blowing. How to Succeed in College Essay -- College Education Organization Essa

How to Succeed in College College 101 has been a very informative class. It has taught me a lot about college and the changes you have to make while attending college. I learned a lot about certain programs that the school offers, I knew nothing about these programs before I took this class and I probably never would have known anything about them if I never would have taken this class. In this class I have learned about three important concepts that can be very useful throughout my college years to come. I think time management, determining values and balancing lifestyles are the three most important concepts you need to help you succeed in college.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  I think planning a day to day schedule of the things you have to do is very important and that’s why time management is a very important factor while in college and even life after college. You can start out by making a chart and writing down everything that you have to do and write the time limit it should take you to do it. You have to work hard at disciplining yourself and try not to go over the time that you have designated for yourself. I think you should even set a time where you have free time to yourself. You should carry this schedule every where you go because if you forget it than you are more likely to do something else or spend more time while doing a certain task. You should also reward yourself when completing some tasks and that way if you do this you would want to keep going and complete the next one....

This research will help in starting new studies in this field so that the new researchers will investigate that how the motivation of employees results in the success of company, company’s growth and progress in future. Organizations have to made good motivational programs for employees to get good performance from  them. If employees are motivated then they perform better, they feel satisfied with their job, so they are committed to their organization as well. This research will encourage organizations to motivate their employees and understand the things that motivate them. BUSINESS RESEACH QUESTION â€Å"What are the contributing features, plans and programs of the company that motivate employees? To understand the phenomenon of employee motivation of Burger King, given below questions of research should be kept in mind to make a base of this research. The current benefits that employees are getting? How the motivation of employees is maintained by the organization? What are the organizations current and future strategies to motivate their workers? RESEARCH OBJECTIVES Motivation is the challenging issue to manage and work, because of the individual behavior or attitudes. As every individual is different from each other, their behaviors, attitudes and needs are also different. For every individual the motivating factors could be different according to their circumstances as well as their priorities. Another factor could be that an employee is not fit for the job he is doing or he has no interest in that work. So such resources and encouragement should be provided to him so he can develop interest. This research assignment will results in understanding the motivation of  employees given by the Burger King and which leads to overall better and good performance. LITERATURE REVIEW PRELIMINARY Literature review is a process of studying published or unpublished work given in the journals, magazines, newspaper, thesis and online information to get references. These references will help in getting knowledge of the other people’s work and will also help in providing support to our arguments and judgments. In organization’s point of view â€Å"motivation† means the drive force which creates interest in employee to work hard. A motivated employee will have capacity to work hard and give good results. It also determines the employee’s effort and level of persistence (Bernie, 2012). Organizations need motivated employees to work. Motivated employees help organizations in their survival. Motivated employees are more productive as they know when they will be productive they will get reward for it (Bowen & Radhakrishna, 1991). Motivated employees are also quality oriented. They find different good ways to do the job. There are many factors that could help in motivating employees. The first and most important factor is job design. Good job design will surely results in creating the positive motivation of employees. The design of job can have a significance impact on employee motivation. If a job is challenging and different interesting tasks are involved in it then employee could be motivated enough to do it. Job design approaches are four in number: job enlargement, job simplification, job enrichment and job rotation (Bernie, 2012). Standardization and specialization of the work is known as job simplification. Job simplification results in motivating the employees because they have clearly identified tasks. But sometimes Job simplification does not helps in creating motivation for the employees because it may result in boring of employee by doing the same task again and again. A large  variety of different tasks to perform by the employees, so that employee can have interest in the job and may result in motivation of employees, this phenomenon is known as Job Enlargement. Job rotation helps to move workers to different tasks and departments after a specific period of time to maintain their interest and motivation to work. Job enrichment aims to enhance the actual job by introducing different motivational factors (Bernie, 2012). Large numbers of studies are conducted to see the impact of job design techniques to motivate employees. Job design questionnaire was used to study the impact of Job design in motivating the employees by Campion and Thayer (1985) and the result of their study has shown that jobs having proper Job design will lead to motivate the employees and employees will have less problem in performing the work needed for a job and less health complaints. Hackman (1980) conducted a study and results shown that redesigning a job will surely leads in providing good productivity, increase the quantity of work and motivation in employees. Job Enlargement or Job Enrichment is the main tool to do this. This is a human nature that he always motivated when he knows that his work is valuable and worthy. Motivation also comes from the sense of acknowledgement and respect. Rewards are another type of motivation. Intrinsic reward and extrinsic reward are main two types of rewards. Rewards that are internal like feeling good about doing something, sense of accomplishment is known as intrinsic rewards. Extrinsic rewards are external like incentives, bonuses, increments etc. (Fair & Silvestri, 1992). When specific goals are set for employees then they also produce good performance and feel motivated as they feel themselves an important asset of organization. Many researchers have worked to investigate the effectiveness of reward on the motivation of employees. Pierce, Cameron, Banko and So (2003) researchers have arranged a research to get the exact idea that how extrinsic rewards given by the company creates an impact on employee’s motivation. They found that people who got rewards for their performance  were motivated intrinsically and those who do not get rewards were not motivated at all. Another study on the same topic was conducted by Wiersma (1992). He found that extrinsic rewards are important and they increase motivation. Dobre (2013) argued that empowerment and recognition are the factors that increase motivation of employee. Employees are motivated on getting empowerment and appreciation which results in good performance of employees. Organizations should try to give empowerment and appreciation to the employees so that they can perform well. Bartol and Martin (1998) studied that motivation is a powerful tool to get good performance from the employees. Kalimullah (2010) argued that a motivated employee puts his efforts for the progress of organization. Sara et al. (2004) suggested that good salaries are the most important factor in motivating employees. Employees are also motivated through good leadership (Baldoni, 2005). Working environment is also another important factor for employee motivation. If organization provides a good working environment to their employees then the employees feel motivated and happy to work in that organization. Many Psychological theories also talks about motivation. Most important theory is Maslow’s need based theory (1954) that suggests that there are different levels of needs and on each level when need is fulfilled the person is motivated. The levels in the hierarchy of Maslow are physiological needs, safety needs, belongings needs, self-esteem needs and self-actualization needs. Alderfer (1972) suggested that there are three need levels, existence, relatedness and growth. He said that fulfillment of these needs makes a person motivated. Herzberg (2003) further worked on Maslow’s theory and modified it by saying that there are two areas of need that motivates employees. Hygiene and motivators are two need areas. Hygiene’s are considered as motivators of low level which includes policy of a company, compensation plan, working environment and employee-employer relationship. The motivation has a high level in factors. These factors include achievement, responsibility, growth  and advancement. If managers want to be effective and need progress in organization, then the manager should know the basics of motivation and the different ways to motivate the employees. With the help of these they can be able to make different motivational strategies to keep their employees engaged in work and motivate them to work even better. RESEARCH METHODOLOGY Research methodology is process or way through which a research is being conducted. There are different types of methods for research. The method is being selected by the researcher according to the topic and feasibility to collect data as well. Success of a research is directly proportional to the methodology selected to conduct a research. Types of methodologies are given below: QUANTITATIVE METHOD It mainly deals with the numerical data or empirical investigation by using statistical or mathematical tools of research. Main objective of quantitative method is to use mathematical models to get results. It is a large and random selected process. Collection of data can be done with the help of questionnaires, telephone conversation, mail, interview, experiment, and surveys. QUALITATIVE METHOD Qualitative research is about the strong knowing of a specific company or occasion, rather than surface information of a population having a large sample. It further helps in getting information related to human groups in natural or social environment. Collection of data is totally different in qualitative method, because in qualitative method data is more subjective than quantitative and human behaviors are kept in consideration while collecting the data. Every emotions and behaviors of human should be  recorded so that researcher may get the exact answer of respondent. Techniques mostly used in collecting the data are interviews, focus group, case studies, individual interview, objects and images. MIXED METHOD OR COMBINED METHOD It is a mixture of both quantitative and qualitative methods. It is the best approach in investigating the critical issues because researchers can apply both methods to get better results. Mixed method provides analysis of how the organizations maintain the motivation of their employees. For this purpose Burger King Company is being selected. Implementing or providing motivation to the employees is not an easy work, in the same way to do research on it a large amount of information is required. RESEARCH TECHNIQUES Research technique is known as a guideline to complete the research. Research technique has several steps and they are given below: Research design and method. Sampling. Data collection. Data analysis. Outcome of research. In mixed method researcher uses both qualitative and quantitative method for getting more accurate result. The process of research will go through the given steps. Researcher will require the consent of the concerned authority as well as of participants that they are willing to participate in the research. SAMPLING Sampling is the process in which researcher finalize which will be the sample of the research, or who will be the participants. Sampling is process or technique of suitable sample or information collection for research work. There are a lot of types of sampling like simple random selection, snowball sampling, convenient sampling, systematic sampling, quota sampling etc. In the present study simple random sampling technique is being used as it is the best way of sampling in which every individual has an equal chance of selection. With the help of it we can get data full of reliability but it needs more money to carry out the process. DATA COLLECTION Data collection is the process in which information is being collected from the sample. The Process of data collection starts when you decide your sample. It mainly deals with the preparation and collection of data from different pool of knowledge and sources. It is the major element for research work. Data should be collected from reliable sources and from those people who are willing to give information. Those who are not willing to provide information and forcefully do it then the data could be faked. Mainly there are two types of data: Primary data and Secondary data. PRIMARY DATA: It is a collection of data directly from the people in the field and known as first hand data. This data is always fresh and reliable as well as it provides an accurate information needed to collect from the sample. This type of data collection needs a large amount of investment and time, researcher may use both methods to collect the data including qualitative and quantitative. SECONDARY DATA: It is a collection of data from books, journals, newspaper, annual reports, and internet or through some other sources etc. and it is not first hand data. It can be archival data that is already present and you are using that. This type of data collection is less expensive and less time consuming but mostly it does not gives accurate information needed for the  research. In this research, primary data will be collected which will comprise of both qualitative and quantitative technique. EXECUTION OF THE PROJECT After completing and observing data collection, a request letters for specialist to authenticate the devices are sent to them. Results were cross checked by researcher. In analyzing the test consequences the researcher sought the help of a statistics person to check that data is properly calculated and evaluated or not. DATA ANALYSIS DATA ANALYSIS IS VERY IMPORTANT AND CRITICAL PROCESS OF RESEARCH, BECAUSE IT CONSISTS OF WHOLE PROCESS OF CHECKING, CLEANING THE DATA AND ANALYSING THE DATA. DATA SHOULD BE ANALYSED PROPERLY, IF THE DATA LACK OF THIS PROPERLY ANALYSED PROCESS THEN IT WILL AFFECT THE RESULTS OF RESEARCH AND THE OBJECTIVE OF RESEARCH WILL NOT BE OBTAINED. SOME OF THE DATA ANALYSING TECHNIQUES ARE: FREQUENCY DISTRIBUTION, DESCRIPTIVE STATISTICS, COMPARING MEANS, CORRELATIONS AND LINEAR REGRESSIONS. To get the best result of this research both Statistical and qualitative techniques will be used. To test the null theory of the research statistical technique will be used and the standard deviation, mean will be used where needed. BARRIERS AND LIMITATIONS OF THE PROPOSED RESEARCH This research deals with the employee’s motivation and employees should perform for the betterment of an organization. This research is a mixture of many different aspects and subjects which are Psychology, human nature and Sociology. So it is necessary that the correlation between all these aspects and subjects should be aligned to each other and should be according to rightful definition. It may cause some barriers due to tough routine of employees, problems in timings and other external factors. They all should  be remove with the help of experts and thesis should be defended with the help of good and reliable sources. SUGGESTED FURTHER RESEARCH ACTIVITY Further studies can be carried out to find out the Impact of extrinsic and intrinsic rewards on motivation. Furthermore the relationship between performance of job and organizational commitment by conducting interviews of management level as well as official level.

How Important Is Prince Henry (Prince Hal) in Henry IV-Part 1? Essay

In the play Henry IV part 1, we see that Prince Henry (Prince Hal) plays an important part in the whole plot. We see that he is the focal point of the plays main themes. Prince Hal spent almost all of his time in the tavern with Sir John Falstaff, his best friend. In act 2 scene 4, Prince Hal has an interesting conversation with Falstaff. At first, the conversation begins with a little light-hearted humour when Sir John plays the King interviewing the Prince and Prince Hal plays as himself. Falstaff, playing the King, starts the conversation by saying, â€Å"Peace, good pint-pot, peace† to me as a reader this seemed quite funny in the sense that a ‘King of England’ would address his son, the prince a pint-pot. Falstaff then said, while still playing the King, â€Å"I do not only marvel where thou spendest thy time, but also how thou art accompanied.† He later went on to say, â€Å"And yet there is a virtuous man whom I have often noted in thy company, but I know not his name.† Really all this time Falstaff was asking Prince Hal about himself. Knowing this Prince Hal asked the ‘king’ â€Å"what manner of man, and it like your majesty? By this time, Falstaff had most probably thought of enough words to praise himself and so replied, â€Å"A goodly portly man, I’ faith, and a corpulent; of a cheerful look, a pleasing eye, and a most noble carriage.† What he meant by this was that he was a very dignified man with a good figure and that he had a noble behaviour. Prince Hal now decided that it was time for him to play King and for Falstaff to play Prince but Falstaff thought otherwise; he replied, â€Å"Dispose me? If thou dost it Prince Half so gravely, so majestically, both in word and matter, hang me up by the heels for a rabbit-sucker, or a poulter’s hare.† This meant that Falstaff felt quite offended by Prince Hal suggesting such a thing. Prince Hal had another idea, instead of praising Falstaff; Prince Hal thought it would be amusing to disgrace him. Prince Hal spoke out as the King, â€Å"Thou art violently carried away from grace. There is a devil haunts thee in the likeness of an old fat man.† This to Falstaff would seem almost as an insult and for his defence replies, â€Å"But to say I know more harm in him than in myself were to say more than I know. That he is old, the more the pity.† Falstaff felt as though he had been insulted but still tried to make it sound as though he were still joking. For Prince Hal the major turning point in his life was when he went to have an interview with his father the King. This meeting not only showed Prince Hal how disappointed his father was, but also showed him how wrong he had been up to now. As soon as he realised this he asked for forgiveness from his father, he did this by s aying, â€Å"Find pardon on my true submission.† His father replied, â€Å"God pardon thee!† The most important part of Prince Hal’s reformation was when he decided to ride into battle alongside his father Henry IV. Hotspur (Harry Percy) had led a rebellion and wanted to overthrow Henry IV so his son Prince Hal promised that he himself would fight Hotspur to the end. Before the battle had begun Vernon, Hotspurs cousin came to Hotspur and described how great Prince Hal looked. He said, â€Å"All furnish’d, all in arms; all plum’d like estridges that with the wind bated, like eagles having lately bath’d; Glittering in golden coats like images; As full of spirit as the month of May, And gorgeous as the sun at midsummer.† Hotspur could not take this anymore and was just lost for words when he heard his own cousin, a rebel fighter saying such brilliant words about someone he was just about to fight. The final battle between Prince Hal and Hotspur was the grand finale of the completion of Prince Hal’s reformation. Hotspur however mocks Prince Hal a little and boasts about himself as well. Hotspur does this by saying, â€Å"Harry, for the hour is come to end the one of us; and would to God thy name in arms were now as great as mine!† To Hal this would have been enough to push him and fight Hotspur. Throughout the play Henry IV, Shakespeare used different devices of language. To distinguish the dignified people he used blank verse. We see an example of this whenever the king speaks for instance when the King speaks to his eldest son Hal, â€Å"I no not whether God will have it so.† Another device which Shakespeare uses is imagery, there is a good example of this is when Worcester (his uncle) speaks to Hotspur and Northumberland (his father) when they plan to hold the rebellion. â€Å"As full of peril and adventurous spirit as to o’er-walk a current roaring loud on the unsteadfast footing of a spear.† To a reader these words would give them the image of a roaring river with a spear as a bridge on which to cross over. Another device, which is used in the play, is dramatic irony. We see this when the prince is alone in his apartment and thinking aloud to himself about his reformation and how he will amaze everyone when he does so. In the play, many characters speak about Prince Hal. Falstaff his best friend sometimes addresses him as ‘mad wag’ or ‘the most comparative, rascalliest, sweet young Prince.’ All these names that Falstaff called him were all meant as a joke and never said seriously. Hotspur, Hal’s rival to the throne of England said many things about him, some of which are ‘The madcap Prince of Wales’ and when they finally met at the battlefield, he mocked Hal by saying that he wished that Hal was as great a fighter as he was. The King also said that he would rather have Hotspur as his son and his next heir to the throne than Hal, â€Å"He hath more worthy interest to the state than thou the shadow of succession.† Throughout the play, no one described Prince Hal as greatly as Vernon (Hotspurs cousin). He described Prince Hal to Hotspur so magnificently that Hotspur even told him to stop talking because he could not hear Prince Hal’s praises anymore. Hal was described by Vernon, â€Å"All furnish’d, all in arms; all plum’d like estridges that with the wind bated, like eagles having lately bath’d; Glittering in golden coats like images; As full of spirit as the month of May, And gorgeous as the sun at midsummer. Wanton as youthful goats, wild as young bulls, I saw young Harry with his beaver on, his cushes on his thighs, gallantly arm’d, rise from the ground like feather’d Mercury, and vaulted with such ease into his seat as if an angel dropp’d down from the clouds to turn and wind a fiery Pegasus, and witch the world with noble horsemanship.† As this came from a rebel fighter, this emphasised the fact that the impact that Prince Hal had on everybody was astounding. My conclusion is that Prince Henry (Hal) plays an important role in the play because he manages to have an affect on everyone and everyone seems to be effected by him. Prince Hal is also the next heir to the throne in succession of his father Henry IV so he therefore is an important person and he has to uphold certain responsibilities and cannot let people like Falstaff sway him in the wrong direction.

Law of Definite Proportions Definition

Law of Definite Proportions Definition The law of definite proportions, together with the law of multiple proportions, forms the basis for the  study of stoichiometry  in chemistry. The law of definite proportions is also known as Prousts law or the law of constant composition. Law of Definite Proportions Definition The law of definite proportions states samples of a compound will always contain the same proportion of elements by mass. The mass ratio of elements is fixed no matter where the elements came from, how the compound is prepared or any other factor. Essentially, the law is based on the fact that an atom of a particular element is the same as any other atom of that element. So, an atom of oxygen is the same, whether it comes from silica or oxygen in air. The Law of Constant Composition is an equivalent law, which states each sample of a compound has the same composition of elements by mass. Law of Definition Proportions Example The law of definite proportions says water will always contain 1/9 hydrogen and 8/9 oxygen by mass. The sodium and chlorine in table salt combine according to the rule in NaCl. The atomic weight of sodium is about 23 and that of chlorine is about 35, so from the law one may conclude dissociating 58 grams of NaCl would produce about 23 g of sodium and 35 g of chlorine. History of the Law of Definite Proportions Although the law of definite proportions may seem obvious to a modern chemist, the manner in which elements combine was not obvious in the early days of chemistry through the end of the 18th century. French chemist Joseph Proust (1754–1826) is credited with the discovery, but English chemist and theologian Joseph Priestly (1783–1804) and French chemist Antoine Lavoisier (1771–1794) were the first to publish the law as a scientific proposal in 1794, based on the study of combustion. They noted metals always combine with two proportions of oxygen. As we know today, oxygen in the air is a gas consisting of two atoms, O2. The law was hotly disputed when it was proposed. French chemist Claude Louis Berthollet (1748–1822) was an opponent, arguing elements could combine in any proportion to form compounds. It wasnt until English chemist John Dalton (1766–1844)s atomic theory explained the nature of atoms that the law of definite proportions became accepted. Exceptions to the Law of Definite Proportions Although the law of definite proportions is useful in chemistry, there are exceptions to the rule. Some compounds are non-stoichiometric in nature, meaning their elemental composition varies from one sample to another. For example, wustite is a type of iron oxide with an elemental composition varying between 0.83 and 0.95 iron atoms for each oxygen atom (23%–25% oxygen by mass). The ideal formula for iron oxide is FeO, but the crystal structure is such that there are variations. The formula for wustite is written Fe0.95O. Also, the isotopic composition of an element sample varies according to its source. This means the mass of a pure stoichiometric compound will be slightly different depending on its origin. Polymers also vary in element composition by mass, although they are not considered true chemical compounds in the strictest chemical sense.

Learn About the 3 Main Stages of Cellular Respiration

Learn About the 3 Main Stages of Cellular Respiration We all need energy to function, and we get that energy from the foods we eat. Extracting those nutrients necessary to keep us going and then converting them into useable energy is the job of our cells. This complex yet efficient metabolic process, called cellular respiration, converts the energy derived from sugars, carbohydrates, fats, and proteins into adenosine triphosphate, or ATP, a high-energy molecule that drives processes like muscle contraction and nerve impulses. Cellular respiration occurs in both eukaryotic and prokaryotic cells,  with most reactions taking place in the cytoplasm of prokaryotes and in the mitochondria of eukaryotes.   There are three main stages of cellular respiration: glycolysis, the citric acid cycle, and electron transport/oxidative phosphorylation. Sugar Rush Glycolysis literally means splitting sugars, and it is the 10-step process by which sugars are released for energy. Glycolysis  occurs when glucose and oxygen are supplied to the cells by the bloodstream, and it takes place in the cells cytoplasm. Glycolysis can also occur without oxygen, a process called anaerobic respiration, or fermentation. When glycolysis occurs without oxygen, cells make small amounts of ATP. Fermentation also produces lactic acid, which can build up in muscle tissue, causing soreness and a burning sensation. Carbs, Proteins, and Fats The Citric Acid Cycle,  also known as the tricarboxylic acid cycle or the  Krebs Cycle,  begins after the two molecules of the three carbon sugar produced in glycolysis are converted to a slightly different compound (acetyl CoA). It is the process that allows us to use the energy found in carbohydrates,  proteins, and  fats. Although the citric acid cycle does not use oxygen directly, it works only when oxygen is present. This cycle takes place in the matrix of cell  mitochondria. Through a series of intermediate steps, several compounds capable of storing high energy electrons are produced along with two ATP molecules. These compounds, known as nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD) and flavin adenine dinucleotide (FAD), are reduced in the process. The reduced forms (NADH and FADH2) carry the high energy electrons to the next stage. Aboard the Electron Transport Train Electron transport and oxidative phosphorylation is the third and final step in aerobic cellular respiration. The electron transport chain is a series of protein complexes and electron carrier molecules found within the mitochondrial membrane in eukaryotic cells. Through a series of reactions, the high energy electrons generated in the citric acid cycle are passed to oxygen. In the process, a chemical and electrical gradient is formed across the inner mitochondrial membrane as hydrogen ions are pumped out of the mitochondrial matrix and into the inner membrane space. ATP is ultimately produced by oxidative phosphorylation- the process by which enzymes in the cell oxidize nutrients. The protein  ATP synthase uses the energy produced by the electron transport chain for  the phosphorylation (adding a phosphate group to a molecule) of ADP to ATP. Most ATP generation occurs during the electron transport chain and oxidative phosphorylation stage of cellular respiration.

World Order Essays

World Order Essays World Order Essay World Order Essay Evaluate the effectiveness of the law relating to world order in achieving justice for individuals, justice for society and justice for the nation state. World order is a term that to the balance among nation of the world. The need for world order has changed as the balance of power changes, as a result of differences between nations, the aspiration for territory or power, conflicts follow therefore resulting in a change in the balance of power. At the build up to the Gulf War, President George Bush Snr. alled for a ‘new world order’ to replace the hostile world order of the Cold War. This world order was no longer simply divided in two; it was to be ‘a world order where the rule of law supplants the rule of the jungle, a world where the strong respect the rights of the weak’. The effectiveness of the law in achieving justice for individuals, society and nation-states in relation to world order has been predominantly ineffective in ac hieving justice. One of the utmost criticisms of the international law has been its focus on nation states. Article 34(1) of the Statue of the International court of Justice (ICJ) explicitly states that only nation states may be parties in cases of the ICJ, and there is virtually no provision for individuals to use international law in order to achieve justice. The wording of the article has also attracted much attention as it also excludes the organizations such as the International Red Cross access to the ICJ in helping to achieve world order. The ICJ consists of 15 judges elected for a 9 year term by the UN General Assembly and Security Council. The work of the Court has had to reflect the main forms of civilisation and the principal legal system of the world. An ineffectiveness of the ICJ is that a nation cannot be compelled to appear before the court therefore its enforceability and accessibility is limited. However the effectiveness of the law in achieving justice for the individual includes the establishment of the International Criminal Court in accordance to Article 8 of the Rome Statue of the International Criminal Court (Statue). The Rome Statue gave the ICC jurisdiction over a wide range of war crimes committed during international armed conflicts. The ICC’s role in protecting individuals is through it’s ability to prosecute people accused of grave breaches in the Geneva Conventions of 1949- these individuals include: wounded or shipwrecked soldiers (protected by the 1st and 2nd Geneva Convention), prisoners of war (POW) (3rd Geneva Convention) and civilians (4th Geneva Convention) in occupied territories. The ICC protects these individuals by being able to persecute those who: commit wilful killing, torture or commit inhuman treatment such as biological experiments, wilfully causing great suffering, or serious injury to body or health and other crimes against humanity. The ICC also has jurisdiction to prosecute any person who use: prohibited attacks on civilians, harm to defenceless persons such as killing or wounding soldiers who have surrendered, certain prohibited methods of warfare such as the misuse of a flag of truce and certain prohibited acts in occupied territory or against nationals including the transfer, directly or indirectly, by the occupier of parts of its own civilians population into the territory. With the growing numbers of crimes against humanity such as genocide, the law has responded to the change of the nature of these crimes such as the recognition that rape now constitute as genocide. This was through the landmark Akayesu case in 1998 where a Trial Chamber of the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda held that when rape was used a method to destroy a protected group by causing serious bodily or mental harm to the members of the group it constituted genocide. By this the law has show it effectiveness in achieving justice through its ability to respond to changes. International Law also protects the rights of individuals by ensuring justice for victims of war crimes. The ICC allows for victims to participate in the proceedings through contributions such as their views and concerns, it also ensures that victims and witnesses are protected mainly through the establishment of the Victims and Witness Unit in the ICC registry by Article 43 (6) of the Rome Statue. This unit provides protective measures such as security and counselling to victims and witness as well as their families who may be at risk because of their testimonial. Also victims are protected through reparations such as Article 75 (1) which established principles relating to compensation, and may order a convicted person to provide that reparation to the victims. Children as an individual are also protected by international law which ensures under Article 6 of the Rome Statue the definition of genocide to include â€Å"forcibly transferring children of the group to another group† if committed with the intention to destroy all or part of a national, ethical, racial or religious groups as such. Finally there is a range of UN bodies that are designed to protect the rights of individuals. However the committee structure of the UN has been widely criticised for being ineffective. Non government organizations have claimed that the committee lacks the necessary legal authority to bring governments or individuals to justice. One recent controversy in Aust. is the mandatory detention of asylum seekers while their claims for refugee status are processed by the Dept. of Immigration. The Howard Govt. onsidered these individuals to have broken Australian law by arriving in the country without a visa or travel documents, whereas international law seeks to remind Australia of the fundamental human rights of each refugee. The individuals in this case are not benefiting from this international pressure because international law and the UN have no enforcement powers. Amnesty International (an NGO) can speak out against the conditions in the detention centres but cannot force conditions to be changed. The effectiveness of the law in achieving justice for society can be accessed by the effectiveness of peacekeeping mission such as the Australian- led mission in East Timor or the ineffectiveness of the Uruguayan-led Peace Keeping mission in Congo. Since 1948 there have been 45 peacekeeping missions conducted by the UN, 2/3 of these conducted since 1991 (possibility because of the rise in guerrilla warfare). 29 missions have been successful (a 65% success rate), achieving all of its objectives. A peace keeping mission are outside of the UN budget and direct control, peacekeepers are placed under the command of a national defence forces. As well nations cannot be forced to commit troops to peacekeeping missions, instead the Secretary –General must request their assistance. This often creates strain in putting together a sufficiently large force. This highlights the inefficiency of resource efficiency by international law.

Understanding what the top content on your topic is helpful for the following reasons: Sharpening your focus on specific post ideas. Course corrections on topics you already cover. Finding new ideas on how to approach old topics. Uncovering new topics that you are missing completely. Here's how to improve your content with the Skyscraper TechniqueThe results can be listed based on the number of times it has been shared on social media in total, or by network. Both of these factors are important for this step. By default, BuzzSumo  will  sort by total sharing stats: If you don't have a paid subscription to BuzzSumo, don't worry. You can find backlink information for top content free using the Moz Toolbar (which works with either Chrome or Firefox). Once you've installed the toolbar, take the keyword you entered in BuzzSumo, and try searching it on Google. These won't necessarily match the "most shared" posts you've surfaced with BuzzSumo, but the data you find will still be useful (and it'll show you even more posts to gather inspiration). This toolbar will add an overlay to each search result providing backlink information for each page. Specifically, it'll tell you: Each site's Domain Authority. This is a metric on a 100-point scale that tells you how authoritative a site or blog is. The higher this number, the harder they will be to compete with for  page one space in Google's search results. Each result's Page Authority. This is similar to Domain Authority, except it refers only to how authoritative that specific page is. How many backlinks each result has received. If you see lots of posts with high numbers of links, this shows you've found a popular topic. Next, compare that to content to the posts that BuzzSumo says are  most likely to be shared via social media: When you start to compare these two lists, things might get interesting. The key is understanding what you should  actually  do with this information. Here are some tips: Grab some of the best topic ideas and file them away for later. (Don't steal!) Figure out what topics are being shared the most on social media. What do they have in common? Understand what type of content is being linked to the most from other sites. Get a benchmark on the type of the content that is being shared (text, photos, videos, etc.) Understand headline intricacies for both linked and shared content. See the big content topics that readers care about. Think about this method as a way to get smarter about the type of content that your audience wants to read, link to, and share via social media. Tip: If you find yourself interested in finding a bit more data, you can always try a Google search or a search on Twitter.com itself. Both of these resources can add another layer of data to your findings. Step #2: Create Better Content Than The Current Top Performers The next thing that you should do is take an audit of   the  content that is performing the best. This will help you improve your own content by understanding what exactly makes up a top post. Begin by clicking through to a few of the links on your BuzzSumo  search results. What are the common themes that you see? Here are a few of the things you should be looking for. Average content length. Average number of images. Overall quality of content (rank from 1-10). Specific keywords/key-phrases used. This can work even better if you chart your findings. For the chart below, I audited the term "skyscraper technique" which is the keyword I used to write this post. The goal here isn't scientific data. More so, it is about taking the time to analyze the content beyond the service. Use a simple word count tool to figure out how many words are on the page, or a word frequency counter to make a guess at what keywords the post is targeting. Adding a simple tally of the images and videos in a post also gives you an idea of what type of content is performing so well. For example, could you spring ahead by introducing a post with video content? Make Your Content Longer and More In-Depth One of the simple things that you can do to one-up your content marketing competitors is to create longer content than they do. Results has shown that longer content typically performs better on search engines, so taking the time to add a few hundred (or thousand) extra words can easily pay off over time. Add Images, Videos, and Other Rich Content You will notice that some posts actually offer little written content, but rather a lot of images or video-based content. This can make for excellent content that readers love to share and link to. Be sure to take note if there are no top sites offering this type of content. It could provide an opportunity for you to leap ahead. Dig Deeper Into the Topic Even today there are still many pages that rank well on Google, but provide little actual value to the customer. If you notice this happening, then you have a golden opportunity to add something of value to the mix. Never miss the chance to simply do a better job of covering a topic and making things useful for the reader. Think More Strategically Many blog posts do a poor job of using keywords and do little to emphasize the SEO value of content marketing. Simply adding this additional effort to your process could make the difference. Step #3:  Get People To Link To Your Content The third step of the skyscraper technique   is usually the hardest. How do you get people to link to your blog? Sure, there is always promoting it on social media, but what else is there? There are a lot of theories and questionable methods that even involve cold-pitching via email, but they rarely work and should be used with caution. The better, and more reliable, way is to simply earn it by creating better content. Remember, we decided to give this skyscraper thing a try because we wanted to improve our content marketing. That means two things: Better content ideas. Better content. Nothing builds backlinks like great content. #QualityFirst #SEO #ContentMarketingIt really is as simple as that. Try Applying the Skyscraper Technique Yourself With the skyscraper technique, we can easily see what content is performing the best and being shared the most. This should easily help us generate a constant supply of new ideas for blog posts and content marketing campaigns. In some ways, I like to think of this technique as a simple way of introducing new ideas and thought patterns into my brain. After one look at BuzzSumo, I usually have new blog post idea that I may not have thought of on my own. There is value in that. Always remember that the end-goal here isn't to copy the ideas and content from another post. You should be able come up with your own take on a topic, and do it better. The skyscraper technique will help you understand what topics to cover and how to cover them in a way that will help you leap ahead of the competition.

Time management and Personal development essay

Time management and Personal development essay Time management and Personal development essay Time management and Personal development essayOne’s personality is formed and developed under the influence of multiple factors, objective and subjective, natural and social, inner and outer, independent and those dependant on the conscience of a person. In this regard, a person is not viewed as a passive being that reflects certain social influence. Instead, a person is a subject of one’s own formation and development. The formation of a personality guarantees scientifically organized development. Modern scientific views on personal development as a process of purposeful formation of a personality have been formed as a result of a long and controversial development of pedagogical ideas. The following research analyzes the personal development of a human being in terms of purposeful influence of one person on the other, aiming to develop biologically and socially useful features of a person. The following paper is aimed at analyzing my personal experience of self-develo pment and self-growth within the Regent’s University and outside it.In fact, instructors play a significant role in the process of self-development, organization of their lives and guarantee of the social experience the students gain during the process of learning. Self-development is a whole process of constant renewal of one’s experience. Here, the idea of interaction between the subject and object of learning should be emphasized. The evaluation of one’s success is also performed by the instructor on the basis of changes that take place in the conscience and behaviour of students. And the process of goal achievement is also realized through the organization of student’s activity.Such process represents a combination of continuous actions directed on the achievement of certain result. The major result would be the formation of a harmoniously developed and socially active personality. It becomes clear that in different cases the notion of personal develo pment will have different meaning. A person can be influenced by the society to a greater extent. In this case, the personal development of oneself greatly depends on social views and everyday conditions. However, the following paper rather deals with the development of a person within the educational institution. The paper deals with my own experience of self-development within the Regent’s University, although I should admit that the society has a great influence on the formation of a personality as well. Here, it is important to evaluate the importance of self-reflection. Thus, I should admit that my studies in the Regent’s University have given me guidance of how to further develop my skills and abilities out of the borders of the institution I am studying at. I consider that throughout the educational process, it is of vital importance that students develop their skills by means of the personal development program. A student should be able to use his or her own exp erience to acquire enough knowledge necessary for the sphere of business they wish to enter after the educational process is over. The task to check one’s self-reflection enables students to record and reflect upon their own academic experiences and identify their own personal skills, weaknesses and strengths. By doing so, the students increase self-confidence by improving and enriching their knowledge about certain areas of study necessary for future business. My choice of the future path was motivated by the fact that I have not much time to become a specialist and the understanding that my study at the University will someday come to an end. And it is up to me to become a good specialist or to graduate from the educational institution without any proper educational background. In order to achieve the goal of becoming expert in the chosen sphere it is important to be persistent and motivated. My study at the Regent’s University greatly benefits the process of personal development. I acquire more and more knowledge in the chosen sphere and hope to graduate from the University with enough knowledge to run my own business in the future. Thus, I recommend all students who are still studying to work hard to achieve their goals while they are still guided by professors and instructors. Otherwise, one may graduate from the University barehanded, that is to say, without any educational background. In this regard, a clever distribution of time plays an important role. Thus, if not to value every day spent in the educational institution, one may graduate from it without enough knowledge in the chosen sphere of activity. I have chosen to carefully value every subject I am taught and every day I spend in the Regent’s University as only doing so will bring the necessary result. I consider that a well-thought distribution of time should be emphasized when speaking about personal development. It is worth saying that a person who is still studying should pay much attention to his or her studies so as to acquire enough knowledge and develop lots of skills necessary for future profession. Here, I consider it important to give a full-fledged definition of personal development planning. Researchers usually define it as a well-structured process undertaken by certain individual in order to reflect upon his or her learning experience, achievements and performance so as to plan future educational, personal and career development (Adair Allen 2004). The above-mentioned definition presumes that the appropriate structure and support is provided by the educational institution a person is studying at. There would be seen no progress in the personal development of a student if the higher educational institution does not provide all necessary conditions for the harmonious and healthy formation of a personality. The learning experience and achievements also play an important role for students who are asked to reflect upon their personal developmen t progress.Employability is another aspect that should be discussed when speaking about the personal development of a student. Thus, without enough knowledge and experience about future career, there is nothing to be said about the employability. Before graduating from the University a student should feel ready for building a strong and successful career in the nearest future. Personal development planning helps students to reflect upon the acquired skills and knowledge provided by tutors in the higher educational institution and learnt by students by themselves.Every student should possess both theoretical and practical knowledge about the matters necessary for their future career. Thus, speaking about myself, I should admit that during the whole learning process at Regent’s University I was fruitfully getting knowledge and forming the theoretical and practical basis for the future career. Thus, I should admit that I have chosen the right course and educational institution to study at. I have always been dreaming to study abroad and the course Global Business and Design Management suits my interests to full extent. I have always been interested in business and economics, specifically those related to design and fashion. My studies at Regent’s University are totally different from any of such kind in Copenhagen. I think I have found the sphere of learning that best suits my interests and are to my liking. In future, I hope to start my own business abroad and to continue expanding my knowledge about the sphere of fashion and design. I think that my learning experience at Regent’s University helped me a lot to form my personality and find a place in this world. It is important for students to deepen their knowledge even after graduating from the educational institution as I consider that the process of personal development has no limits and no restrictions. As for the employability, I should admit that my experience of Internship in Copenhagen helped me a lot to acquire appropriate employability skills. I think that my working experience at the COVER magazine will help me to find my place in the world. I do hope to open my own business abroad and further develop in the sphere of fashion and design as this sphere is what interests me most.Giving an evaluation of my employability skills acquired during my practical experience in Copenhagen and studying at Regent’s University, I should admit that I have developed good verbal and teamwork skills. Thus, I consider myself able to clearly express my own ideas and I feel confident in speech. Moreover, I feel quite confident working within a group. However, I think that I still need to develop commercial awareness so as to understand the commercial realities existing in the sphere of design and fashion of today. Still, I consider myself an initiative and self-motivated person. I mean that I am able to act on initiative and identify opportunities necessary for building a su ccessful career. Written communication is not as important for me as the ability to express my thoughts and ideas orally. Flexibility is another skill that I have developed during the Internship in Copenhagen. I consider myself able to adapt fruitfully to the changing environment and situations. Finally, as was mentioned above, time management is very important. I think that in order to build a successful career, one should be able to effectively manage time and be able to work to deadlines.Among the most important skills that should be acquired while studying at the University are leadership and management skills, interpersonal and technical skills as well as client management and marketing skills. All of these skills can be acquired during Internships abroad. I consider that I managed to acquire all the necessary skills during my practical experience abroad and I plan to use them in my future career. The learning process at the University should be monitored, integrated and support ed by tutors and instructors (Moon 2001). The students should develop explicit skills of analysis and reflection in order to become decent members of society. Personal development is a long-lasting process that continues even after graduating from the higher educational institution. In fact, it can last for eternity as a human being is a constantly developing creature that frequently changes in the course of time. However, compulsory education at the University greatly contributes to the development of the individuality of a person. For a person to become a specialist in one’s chosen sphere of activity, he or she needs to be persistent and motivated. A person should develop these features of character in order to achieve success in future career. There can be emphasized several structural components of personal development. These are knowledge of people about the environment and society, practical skills in different spheres of activity and creativity as well as social and spi ritual relations. The successful development of a person wholly depends on many factors, including persistence and a strong desire to learn new things in the chosen sphere of activity.Throughout the process of studying it is important for students to identify their skills and knowledge and develop them in the course of the personal development program. Students should be able to apply their knowledge to build a strong basis for future business in the chosen area. Different students dream to enter different areas of business after completing their education. However, the truth remains the same. It lies in the fact that before graduating from the educational institution, students must have enough skills and knowledge for entering the beloved sphere of business and becoming rightful members of the society. The study enables students to record and reflect upon their academic and practical experience. Personal development programs empower students to identify their personal skills, weakn esses and strengths. In such a way, students increase their self-confidence and become capable of improving the required spheres and form the identity for the real world of business. In conclusion, I consider it necessary to give a summary of what has been said in this paper. I should admit that personal development planning is an important process of self-reflection. During the process, a student learns how to evaluate his abilities and skills necessary for entering the global business. As for me, I have long been interested in fashion and design and dream to become a good specialist in this sphere of business. I consider it important for every student to be persistent not only in their studies of theory, but also their own practical experience. I think that by the end of study, every student should be able and feel confident to enter the real world of global business and become a decent member of society. Personally I would like to expand my knowledge in the area of design-related business and economics. I think that I have chosen the right specialty and I consider myself ready to enter the seducing world of fashion and design. I would like to open my own business abroad and apply my knowledge in this sphere to full extent.During my study at Regent’s University, I managed to acquire enough skills and knowledge to become a fashion designer in future. I consider my studies to be fruitful and efficient and I advise all students to find the beloved sphere of activity and become a good specialist in the chosen area of business. The above paper has analyzed the basic aspects of personal development planning on the basis of my own practical and theoretical experience. In this research paper, I tried to analyze different aspects of personal development for students to understand the basics of individual formation of a person. The research analyzed the question of employability and mentioned the necessary employability-related skills that every student should d evelop during their studies in the University.

Do Male Nurses Make More Money

Do Male Nurses Make More Money We know a wag gap exists throughout the business world, and that the fight for equal pay is super important. But does this happen in the nursing field? Surely if a male and a female nurse, with the same experience and education, are working in the same job, they must make the same money, right? Wrong. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), female RNs made a median weekly salary of $1,011 in 2008, while male RNs made $1,168. That doesn’t look like a huge difference, but remember to multiply that by 52. The gap begins to widen.Turns out, female nurses make 86.6 percent of what their male counterparts are making. Is this just because they make higher hourly wages? Yes and no. Male nurses typically have the advantage coming straight out of school. They make up 6% of the nursing workforce, but tend to be better represented in the more specialized, high paying sectors of the field.Almost half of CRNAs (Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists) are men, and making signific antly more than floor nurses, the vast majority of whom are women. This is mostly because becoming a CRNA requires a master’s degree, and men are more likely than women to go further in their nursing education. Men also factor highly in military nursing positions, which are also super lucrative. Now, this isn’t all salary discrepancy. Sometimes male nurses have the advantage because they’re not responsible for the same amount of childcare as some female nurses. They tend to have more freedom to work overtime shifts and take on extra work, relying on partners to pick up more of the domestic duties. And, perhaps more than anything, they tend to be more aggressive in asking for what they want in salary negotiations and annual reviews.Take away lesson for the ladies? If you can, get that extra degree. Ask your partner to take a few extra shifts of child care so you can bring in a bit more bacon. Push yourself a little further. Fight for pay equity. And, above all else , ask for a raise. You deserve it.
